Candy Lane has partnered with Schoolyard Farms to manage our school farm and provide weekly garden lessons to our students and fresh produce for our cafeteria. Students who participate in a school garden improve their academic achievement, have more positive attitudes towards fruits and vegetables and are more likely to eat fruits and vegetables.
There are many ways you can get involved with the school farm:
- Receive a weekly bag of vegetables from the school farm from June-October by becoming a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) member
- Send your child to Farm Summer Camp. Schoolyard Farms hosts Farm Summer Camp at Candy Lane for incoming 1st-6th graders where campers connect to their food system by learning how to grow food, harvest it and cook it!
- Come volunteer at the Candy Lane Farm every Friday from 1-4pm from April until October (from June-August we change our volunteer hours to 2-5pm). We also have more specific volunteer and internship opportunities.
